Background | "SCIP+" Green Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest has been successfully held for 3 consecutive years since 2019. Last year, 17 from 8 countries including the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Holland, Brazil, India and Vietnam out of 195 teams applied. This year’s Contest launched on June 29, 2022.
Theme | This Contest is organized by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, Shanghai Chemical Industry Park and East China University of Science and Technology in China. Based on "Innovation, Coordination, Green, Openness, and Sharing", this year's contest focuses on the theme of "Green and Low-Carbon".
Main Topics
4 Main Topics | This Contest is looking for advanced technology innovation (i.e. academic papers, patents, research achievements, etc.) and disruptive technology solutions in the following main topics:
Designated Topics
10 Designated Topics | Besides main topics, applicants can also participate in the designated topics provided by multinationals etc. as below:
Requirements
Participants | The participants are divided into Innovation Group (for full-time university undergraduates and postgraduates, teachers, young scientists, etc.) and Entrepreneurship Group (for registered startups) this year.
Applicants should stick to the topic of Green and Low Carbon and have technical achievements including patents / products / innovative services / project plans / implementation plans, etc. The project / product should be innovative, commercialized, scalable, green and environment-friendly. IP should be owned by the applicant or be authorized in a written way.
Timeline
1.Open for Application
June 29 - September 30
Go to https://makeable.cn/2022-scip-en/ for application. The deadline is September 30, 2022. Applicants can refer to the "Application guide" in the "Download" section at the top.
2.Selection Stage
October 1 - November
Multiple rounds of online selection will be conducted by experts from industry and capital. Participants for the Finals will be selected.
3.Mentoring Stage
Before the Finals
Industrial experts will provide mentoring to the participants of the Finals to strengthen their capabilities.
4.Finals
December
Experts from industry, capital, university and scientific institute will select winners of the Finals at Shanghai Chemical Industry Park.
5.Acceleration
After the Finals
One-week acceleration program for the winners which includes innovative thinking training, product design, impact evaluation test, pitching and an investment matchmaking event, etc.

What You Can Get | In addition to cash awards and certificates showing below, winning teams can also join a one-week incubation program for free; have a lot of fund-raising opportunities; communicate directly with industrial experts, and conduct pilots with world-renowned companies; enjoy free office space in Shanghai International Chemical New Materials Innovation Center (INNOGREEN), and relevant incentives in R&D, scale-up activities based on the policies of Shanghai Chemical Industry Park.
